HALO: COMBAT EVOLVED

My standard 1 teacher always said, "when u do sumting, do it creatively".

So let me start this entry with a question...what do you guys know about "combat evolved"?

i know what u're thinking... u think combat evolved means dis ryte?

OK OK OK LETS CUT THE CRAP

Combat Evolved is actually a sci-fi first person shooter (FPS) game which was created by Bungie Studio as i have posted in the previous entry...

I played this game first during my college's 1st year...They had this windows vista launching in my college and had a few other interesting activities which includes computer games competition (not sure whether if it is an actual competition or what though =p)...

Halo: Combat Evolved was one of the games in the competition and I managed to get some hands on in it...I enjoy playing FPS games like quake, quake 2, quake 3, and quake 4..but this game is something different...it had a very interesting storyline made from number of cutscenes in its gameplay...which obviously increased my anxiety to know its full story, but unfortunately i cudnt play the game till the end(only played the 1st level in the competition)... the 2nd time i managed to play this game was on my own computer...errr....well, a year later =p

In this game, the character that we play is a physically enhanced supersoldier called Master Chief...and his actual name is John..well,he's a supersoldier because its the year 2553 AD... =p

The game begins with this master chief aboard a time-travelling spaceship (Pillar of Autumn) getting prepared in his armor suit for battle against the covenants, which by that time were having war against the United Nation Space Command,UNSC(Our side)...

The master chief makes himself comfortable with his armor suit and gets into the lifepod in which he jumps onto Halo's surface from the Pillar of Autumn...

He engages in battle with the alien race called "covenants" as soon as he crash lands onto Halo's surface...the ringworld looks much like our current planet earth though...with large rocks, large hills, waterfall, ocean and etc....

The story goes on and at one point leads the player to understand that the ringworld called halo is actually a superweapon designed to destroy all sentient life in the universe...the reason is to starve a growing number of parasitic form alien species called "the flood" to death....

i know its started to get complicating....i felt the same when i was playing it... =p let me show u how the flood looks like...let me warn u now itself....it would not be an eye candy, especially for those below 12 years old =p

The Flood, a parasitic species, infects individual organisms and causes them to undergo different stages of organized transformation into various "forms". A Flood's chosen form depends on the species of creature infested, and the usefulness of the infected body. For example, the infection form, upon reaching its target, will attempt to infect the target by extending its tentacles, penetrating target's skin, and contacting the target's spinal cord, bringing about a successive series of neurological and physiological changes to the target or the host. As these changes happen, the infection form will deflate its gas bag, pull itself into the host body, and spread its tentacles throughout the body..

and tadaa...the infected host will transform into the warrior form of the flood...

ok ok lets get to the main story shall we????

so basically the ringworld called Halo or more specifically known as Installation 04 later during the gameplay is basically built to destroy the parasitic alien species flood.

Because the Flood were parasitic, and their survival was immediately linked to the presence of potential hosts, the covenant forerunners reasoned that eliminating all potential Flood hosts, that is, all sentient life forms in the galaxy, would "render the parasite harmless". After all countermeasures failed, the covenants activated the Halos in 97,448 B.C.E, unleashing galactic destruction, destroying almost all sentient life forms. However, the human race and many other species throughout the galaxy survived from the firing of the Halos because it was out of range of all Halo Rings.

Did I say Halo Rings???? Jeng jeng jeng.....suspence!!!!!!!!!!!

So Master Chief's task is now to stop the ringworld from firing and thus saving humanity from destruction..eventually he succeeded in stopping the ring from firing, by of course destroying Halo/Installation 04 in the end out of no other choice...
